With all the revelations in the season 3 finale of “The Blacklist,” it’s no surprise that the fourth season premiere will be one of the most-watched once it premieres. The question of whether or not Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) will patch things up in the new season is still up in the air. There also is the mystery of Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) and his real intentions of confessing that he is Liz’s real father.
A new season 4 trailer asked the question, “Who is Liz’s father?” fueling speculations that Kirk may actually be an impostor and not really the one Liz has been looking for all her life. Does this mean that the first episode will be all about this issue?
Well, it makes perfect sense because the moment Kirk confessed, perhaps more than half of the millions of viewers of the show knew in their hearts that he wasn’t telling the truth, or perhaps that he was hiding something.
Meanwhile, fans shouldn’t forget that there’s more to this crime thriller television series than just Liz’s father. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s executive producer, Jon Bokenkamp, revealed that there will be more truths slated to be uncovered in season 4, including Red’s plans of redeeming himself after the betrayal by Liz. However, it remains to be seen if he really intends to fix his broken relationship with Liz or he decides to get revenge instead.
Also, another interesting twist for the upcoming season is the return of Katerina Rostova (Lotte Verbeek), Liz’s mother who appeared in the previous season. Though there are no further details about her return, there’s a possibility that it will be for more than just one episode.
“The Blacklist” returns for a new season on Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
