NBC’s popular crime television series, “The Blacklist” is set to return for yet another explosive season next month and all eyes are on Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) as she looks forward to a new life thinking that everything will be a lot safer and peaceful this time. But obviously, that won’t be the case as so many questions were left unanswered at the conclusion of the third season.
A recent sneak preview courtesy of Entertainment Weekly showcased the troubles Liz had to go through in the previous seasons, highlighted by the series of episodes where she was a fugitive being hunted by her own agency. The short video also recalled Liz faking her death, as everyone thought Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) was responsible for it.
Although Red did rescue Liz, the revelation made by her kidnapper, Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), that he is her real father, could make things take a turn for the worse this upcoming season. There is even the prospect of Liz and Red becoming enemies once again.
Meanwhile, “The Blacklist” season 4 will also be tackling Kirk’s real plans after the confession. If Red was to be relied upon, he is certain that Kirk is telling nothing but lies and that the revelation is just some kind of mind game that he intends to take advantage of, once his bigger plans are put into action.
Talking to EW, executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath said that Kirk will be a huge part of the next season and that his presence alone will correspond to a lot of troubles and twists. “He says he’s her father, but is he going to hurt her, help her, be kind to her, or does he want to destroy her,” Eisendrath said. Bokenkamp added that Kirk’s relationship with Liz will actually bring more light to Liz’s relationship with Red.
Season 4 of “The Blacklist” is set for a premiere on Sept. 22 on NBC.
