Although Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) seems to be missing in action in the recent finale of “The Blacklist” season 3, he will still pop in the parent series while moving on to the upcoming spinoff “The Blacklist: Redemption.”
Following the conclusion of the manhunt for Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), Tom fled the scene along with his and Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) baby Agnes. In an interview with “Today,” the actor revealed that the production team is still figuring out how he will appear in both worlds.
“I think were going to try to go back and forth and focus on the spinoff while staying involved with the show. They’re going to, I think, built sort of a bigger mythology between the two shows, which could open up the world and make it kind of fun if you’re a ‘Blacklist’ fan,” he teased.
He also shared that viewers will still see Tom in the original series when it airs for season 4 especially that “Redemption” will not begin its eight-episode run until later in the 2016 to 2017 season. Aside from Eggold, Famke Janssen also stars as Tom’s mother Scottie Hargrave and the head of the covert mercenary group named Halcyon.
In a separate interview with TVLine, Eggold further explained, “Tom will definitely be in a number of the beginning episodes – or so I’m told – in Season 4. It will partly be to send us down the trajectory of this new series, and for the characters, we’ll find out what happens between Tom and Liz and what happens with this baby girl they both share. What is the future of that? We’re going to deal with that in the beginning of season 4 and then make our way to a brand-new series.”
“The Blacklist” is expected to return to NBC sometime in fall, while “The Blacklist: Redemption” premiere is yet to be scheduled.
