After almost finding her love in the 20th run of “The Bachelor” before losing to Lauren Bushnell, Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher will get a chance to find it again in season 12 of “The Bachelorette.”
Shortly after the finale of “The Bachelor” season 20, where Fletcher became the runner-up, she will now be starring in the 12th run of “The Bachelorette,” revealed an exclusive scoop from Entertainment Online.
In the announcement, host Chris Harrison said, “She is a woman who the entire country fell in love with and I know that you’re all hoping that she is able to fall in love again,” before welcoming her.
The decision came as a surprise, as second runner-up Caila Quinn was initially rumored to be the new star of the upcoming show. The speculations came, as the network claimed that they will be focusing on diversity. Given that Quinn is half-Filipino, the assumptions point to her as the most fit candidate for “The Bachelorette” season 12.
Nonetheless, Fletcher’s mother is Persian and may have qualified well for the said diversity. In the website of “The Bachelor,” Fletcher takes it as her responsibility to show her pride on cultural differences.
She said, “I’m proud of my mother’s background despite what social opinions are. It’s important for me to stand up to people stereotyping Iranians,” reported Variety.
In the last few episodes of “The Bachelor” season 20, Ben Higgins professed love for two women, Bushnell and Fletcher. Higgins admitted that he really loved Fletcher, but he just figured out that he loves Bushnell more. During the finale of the show, Higgins proposed to Bushnell, leaving Fletcher heartbroken and confused.
Now, she will have her second attempt in finding her love. Will she also face similar dilemma such as Higgins? Will she finally find her true love?
“The Bachelorette” season 12 will premiere on May 23 on ABC.
