'The Affair' season 3 premiere date not yet confirmed; plot to pick up with aftermath of trial case?

No official words have been announced yet regarding the premiere of Showtime’s hit drama series “The Affair” for its season 3. However, fans are said to be expecting that the narrative will be interesting following what transpired in the last season’s finale.

Viewers finally got to see what happened during the night when Scotty Lockhart, played by Colin Donnell, met his demise. It was revealed that three of the main characters Dominic West’s Noah, Ruth Wilson’s Alison, and Maura Tierney’s Helen were actually involved in some ways in his death.

The episode showed Noah and ex-wife Helen having an unplanned reunion when they met in a bar. The former couple talked about their lives. Afterwards, the two decided to leave the place and while driving the car, Noah suddenly caressed Helen’s hands which made the latter lose her focus on the road. It was also the exact moment when Scotty came out of nowhere and was accidentally hit by the car. Apparently, it was Alison who pushed Scotty towards the road when he tried to force himself on her.

During the trial for his death, Noah took all the blame while the two ladies remained quiet and did not disclose that they are partly responsible for the accident.

When it comes to the plot of season 3, it is believed that it will revolve around the aftermath of the trial, with more drama and possibly, even darker turn of events.

“The Affair” was renewed by its premiere home network early this month alongside “Homeland.” The order for another run was not surprising as the show is one of the top ranking programs on Showtime. For season 2, it was averaging 1.5 million total viewers and 0.6 million among the adults 18-49 demographic.
