The return of “The 100” season 3 could see the death of Kane, played by Henry Ian Cusick.
The teaser photos released for the upcoming episode showed Kane being led by a horde of Grounders. With that, fans can expect Kane to be in trouble, especially since the previous episode showed Emerson, played by Toby Levins, brutally killed.
Aside from his run in with the Grounders, there are teasers hinting that Kane will also have troubles regarding his love life. Since many episodes ago, fans have been waiting for Abby, played by Paige Turco, and Kane to get together. Unfortunately, there have been speculations that the two will not be given their happy ending.
The unexpected departure of Emerson in the previous episode had fans believing that the season will end with either Kane or Abby killed off as well. While there has yet to be any news confirming the matter, the executive producer of the series, Jason Rothenberg, explained in an open letter to the fans that many of the characters in the series could be killed at any moment.
He said, “In the show-world, no one is safe, and anyone, even a beloved character, can die, at any time. My favorite shows in this genre embrace a similar sense of heightened urgency.”
The executive producer recently received backlash when a homosexual character, Lexa, played by Alycia Debnam-Carey, was killed off several episodes ago. While he explained that her death was merely more for practical and thematic reasons, he also took the chance to apologize to many fans.
He said, “Despite my reasons, I still write and produce television for the real world where negative and hurtful tropes exist. And I am very sorry for not recognizing this as fully as I should have. Knowing everything I know now, Lexa’s death would have played out differently.”
“The 100” season 3 airs on Thursdays on The CW at 9 P.M. EDT.
