The latest instalment for the hit fighting game franchise Tekken will finally make its way to PS4 and Xbox One. Following its earlier Japanese arcade release, Tekken 7 will finally be released for consoles on August 2015.
Cyberland reports that Bandai Namco finally set its release date for Tekken 7 on August 2015. Reports also says that the game chief producer and Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada plans to add more characters to the new game. “Currently [at the time of said report], we have four new characters,” he said. “But later on, we’ll continue to add them through updates, so look forward to it. We don’t plan on reducing the number of characters so yes, we’re thinking of adding more.”
Harada also teased a possible PC version for Tekken 7, for “certain countries that prefer or need to play on PC”.
New characters available for the current arcade version, and in the upcoming updates include Josie Rizal, an Eskrima fighter from the Philippines; Shaheen, a Saudi Arabian specializing in “military fighting style”; Lucky Chloe, who uses freestyle dance and acrobatics; Claudio Serafino, an Italian fighter who uses Siruis-Style Purification Sorcery; Gigas, a character using “destructive impulse”; Katarina Alves, a Brazilian Savate user; Kazumi Mishima, Kazuya’s mother, as the final boss for the game; the new Jack-7; a redesigned Lars Alexandersson; and an upgraded version of Yoshimitsu.
Familiar faces and fan favorites from previous Tekken games also return for the latest instalment such as HeihachiMishima, Hwoarang, Jin Kazama, Devil Jin, Ling Xiaoyu, King, AsukaKazama, Sergei Dragunov, Leo Kliensen, Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, Feng Wei, and many others.
The game release for the console is expected to run under Unreal Engine 4. “With the Unreal Engine 4,” Harada said, “we can rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it.”
Tekken 7 is expected to come to PS4 and Xbox One August 2015.
