Even though the latest hit fighting game of Namco, “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” will be available nationwide in the arcades of Japan this coming July, there is still no confirmed date for the release of the video game on gaming consoles.
According to Yibada, fans of the game can expect new updates pointing to how improved the game is compared to the previous titles in the franchise.
In addition, there will be a new character that will be borrowed from the “Street Fighter” franchise – Akuma. Still, some of the characters from the previous title, “Tekken 6”, will still be present on “Fated Retribution.” The new characters from the previous title such as Katarina Alves, Josie Rizal, Claudio Sefarino, and Lucky Chloe will be part of the roster of “Tekken 7”. Also, the classic characters of the “Tekken” franchise such as Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, and Yoshimitsu will still be part of the upcoming game.
On the other hand, in an interview with Game Spot, Katsuhiro Harada, the game director of “Tekken”, mentioned that “Tekken X Street Fighter” may no longer be in development. The reason for this decision is Bandai Namco and Capcom don’t want the communities of the two franchises to be divided.
“We don’t want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that’s become difficult recently. So it’s on hold for the moment,” Harada said.
The game director also mentioned that they were also trying to find the right timing to release “Tekken X Street Fighter.” “Street Fighter V” was just launched recently and there is another group of players anticipating “Tekken 7.”
“Tekken 7” will be released on the PlaySation 4 soon. However, release for other consoles has not been confirmed by the developer yet.
