A new report suggests it might take longer than some expect for Bandai Namco to launch its upcoming fighting title “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.” This rumor is based on the release date of “Tekken 7’s” arcade version.
A listing of the planned release date for “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” for Japanese arcades was spotted recently by Attack of the Fanboy. The said listing comes from Japanese arcade game website AM-Net. Based on the listing, it appears “Tekken 7’s” arcade version will be out in July 2016. However, arcade places in Japan need to put in their orders for the new machines by March 18.
If this release date pushes through, there’s a chance “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” will be out in Japanese arcades in time for this year’s Evolution Championship Series or EVO 2016 for short. EVO 2016 is considered to be “the biggest fighting video games tournament in the world” and “Tekken 7” is among the nine games lined up for the event. Bandai Namco’s fighting game will be joined by “Street Fighter V,” “Guilty Gear Xrd – Revelator,” “Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3,” “Pokken Tournament,” “Super Smash Bros. Melee,” “Super Smash Bros. Wii U,” “Killer Instinct,” and “Mortal Kombat X.”
While having “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” at the EVO 2016 will have fans of the game flocking to Las Vegas, it could also mean that gamers will have to wait longer for the game’s console versions to arrive, according to Attack of the Fanboy. The publication goes on to say the news of a July 2016 release date for the game suggests that the gaming community will have to extend their patience beyond late 2016 when they hope the title will launch for consoles.
“Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” is slated to be released to Sony’s PlayStation 4. Versions for other platforms have yet to be announced.
