'Teen Wolf' season 6: Dylan O'Brien reportedly filmed scenes for season 6 before 'The Maze Runner' injury

Fans who are wondering if actor Dylan O’ Brien will still return for season 6 of MTV’s supernatural series “Teen Wolf” may be delighted to find out that it appears he had some of his scenes filmed before sustaining injury during the production of “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.”

The information has come directly from his co-star Melissa Ponzio who portrays the character of Melissa McCall. On a correspondence with a fan on Twitter, the actress was inquired as to how they saw O’Brien if he reportedly has not been back on the set yet. “We were in production and shooting before his accident. That’s how,” she answered.

When asked to clarify, “We started shooting in early feb. the only thing we care about is him healing and feeling better every day. work can wait,” she added.

Series creator Jeff Davis previously teased that viewers may expect interesting storylines for his character Stiles and love interest Lydia (Holland Roden), “Something big happens in the very first episode of Season 6 between Stiles and Lydia.”

Stiles and Lydia’s relationship has grown from being strangers in the early parts of the show, to becoming best friends as they both faced threats and several creatures wreaking havoc around their town.

Talking to TV Guide, Davis further explained that the new season will tackle what’s really going on between them, “Lydia’s feelings for Stiles becomes a big focus of the season, actually. It will make some people furious and some people happy, so we’ll see.”

On a related note, it seems like speculations regarding Tyler Hoechlin reprising his role as fan favorite Derek Hale may not come to fruition. The actor has been tapped to appear in The CW’s “Supergirl” as Clark Kent, also known as Superman. He will appear in the first two episodes of season 2, visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City.

A release date for “Teen Wolf” season 6 has yet to be scheduled.
