For 12 years, the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), have fiercely chased and eradicated the demons that threatened the world. But, what if one of them forgets everything, even his name?

In season 12 episode 11, Dean had succumbed to an enchantment that gradually erased his memory.

It all started when Dean was chasing a wounded man into the forest. The man bewitched Dean, and the following day, the oldest of the Winchester brothers could not recall what had happened the night before. His brother, Sam, believed that it’s just a hangover.

The brothers carried on the case that they’re currently handling, but Dean could not remember anything at all even how to drive. Sam got alarmed and asked help from Rowena (Ruth Connell) who advised them to kill the witch who cast the spell.

Retracing the events that Dean got involved in, Sam and Rowena found that the witch was already dead. Later on, Rowena has identified the hex as a work from an ancient family who had a book of spells called the Black Grimoire. They had to find the book to break the curse before Dean forgets how to eat and dies.

Sam and Rowena attempted to confiscate the book from the two witches but failed. Dean, with Rowena’s instruction, was able to track them and shot the two sorcerers. Using the magical book, Rowena relieved Dean.

In the next episode of “Supernatural” season 12, Mary (Samantha Smith) asks the Winchester brothers and Castiel (Misha Collins) for assistance on a case she’s working on. However, she fails to inform the trio about the involvement of the British Men of Letters.

The British Men of Letters is an ancient secret organization devoted to discovering and chronicling mysteries of unknown supernatural beings and phenomena. The guild became extinct in 1958, but “the legacies of Letters” have survived through Sam and Dean.

“Supernatural” season 12 episode 12 is scheduled to air on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
