In celebration of Thanksgiving, The CW’s long-running thriller drama “Supernatural” went on a short break for season 12. When the new installment airs on the small screen, fans will get to see the exciting special guest appearance of legendary rock star Rick Springfield.
Titled “Rock Never Dies,” the synopsis for episode 7 reveals that Springfield will be the vessel of Lucifer and will portray the role of a rock star named Vince Vincente. As he now has extraordinary abilities, he can get his fans to do whatever he wants. Thrilled with his power, Lucifer then arranges to play a secret VIP concert with a mission to kill all of the attendees.
To stop his evil plans, the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) enter the underbelly of the music industry to try and stop him. They will be joined by Castiel (Misha Collins).
In the promotional teaser, Sam and Dean are aboard the Impala as the former says, “Hair rock, really?” to which the latter replies, “You like it.” The scene then showcases Springfield as his character maliciously states, “I’m Vince Vincente, the Rock God.” Castiel then asks the group, “Can he scream and sing?” as Vince commands the concertgoers to follow his beat. The clip ends with Dean suggesting, “Rock is dead.”
Down the line, episode 8 dubbed “Lotus” will have the hunters continuing the chase to subdue Lucifer. After the interesting experience of being an esteemed singer, Lucifer’s search for power and influence in a vessel will land him in the White House.
The president of the United States, played by guest star David Chisum, unknowingly makes a deal with the devil, leading Sam, Dean and Castiel to make an unlikely agreement with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) and his witch mother Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell). Together, the group will band together to fight the Dark Lord.
Season 12 episode 7 of “Supernatural” airs on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. EST. It will be followed by episode 8 on Dec. 8.
