Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have to face Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) mother in “Supergirl.”
The “Romeo and Juliet”-inspired episode opened with Kara being attacked by an army of alien bounty hunters. Mon-El believed that his parents ordered the army to do so. It turned out that he was right, as this was confirmed when J’onn (David Harewood), using his telepathic powers, interrogated one of the aliens. Mon-El’s parents believed that if Kara dies, he would return to their planet, Daxam.
Then, Kara and Mon-El met with the latter’s mother, Rhea (Teri Hatcher). However, the Daxam Queen attempted to kill Kara using a Kryptonite dagger, so Mon-El was forced to agree to leave Earth if his mother spared the Supergirl’s life.
Against President Marsden’s orders, J’onn joined Kara in rescuing Mon-El from his parents’ spaceship. After a fierce fight, King Lar Gand agreed to allow Mon-El to stay on Earth. As the trio left for Earth, Rhea killed Lar Gand for his betrayal and vowed to return to bring back Mon-El.
Meanwhile, the 17th episode also featured the rocky relationship of Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima). It started when Alex met Emily, Maggie’s ex-girlfriend. They invited her to dinner, but she did not show up.
The following day, Alex confronted Emily, who told her that Maggie cheated on her when they were still together. Later on, Alex confronted Maggie about keeping secrets from her. The former explained that she understood her girlfriend’s trust issues, but she would not judge her for her past.
In the next episode, Kara will be facing new threats as two villains are coming. First, Rhea is back with new evil scheme against the female superhero. Second, Lena’s (Katie McGrath) diabolic ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (Rahul Kohli), is arriving in National City with intentions that can be deemed worrisome. Lastly, someone is about to uncover Kara’s secret identity.
The second season of “Supergirl” will return on Apr. 24 on The CW.
