The Man of Steel is set to return in National City. However, he’s not the only one coming back.

A recent report from E! News said that Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) cousin, Clark, for the finale of “Supergirl” season 2.

Hoechlin’s Superman first appeared in the first episode of the current season. Kara was preparing for her first date with James (Mehcad Brooks) when a spacecraft, the Venture, landed on Earth because of engine failure. Superman showed up to help his cousin fix the space vehicle and to investigate the people behind the conspiracy.

Clark continued his partnership with Supergirl in the following episode before he decided to leave National City.

“He was really coming in as a supporting character for Kara, to be a friend and a cousin and a mentor,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told the reporters at the time.

“We simultaneously wanted to have a Superman who was relatable and fun and sort of everything that you remember about Superman from your childhood that was great, while also, at the same time, de-mystifying him a little bit,” he continued.

Furthermore, Calista Flockhart will also return as Cat Grant, the fierce founder of CatCo Worldwide Media.

Like Clark, Flockhart’s character exited the show during the second episode of the season. Cat Grant decided to take a leave of absence from CatCo, leaving James as the acting CEO.

Flockhart was one of the series’ regular cast members in the first season.

However, it seems that two antagonists are also heading to challenge the female superhero.

The upcoming episode will show that Rhea (Teri Hatcher) is not through with her son’s girlfriend. Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) mother is plotting a new evil scheme to kill Kara and bring her son back to Daxam.

Also, Lena Luthor’s (Katie McGrath) rogue ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (Rahul Kohli), arrives in National City with troubling motives. Apart from that, someone is about to uncover Kara’s top secret identity.

The second season of “Supergirl” will return on April 24 on The CW.
