'Supergirl' season 1 episode 3 spoilers: Supergirl's powers tested;'Fight or Flight' synopsis revealed

CBS recently released the official episode synopsis for the third episode of its upcoming and much anticipated small screen superhero series Supergirl.

The episode, entitled “Fight or Flight”, will be introducing the classic DC supervillain Reactron, which will be played by Chris Browning. Another possible villain also makes his debut in the show, as Peter Facinelli comes as Maxwell Lord.

Below is the synopsis for “Fight or Flight”, courtesy of Supergirl TV:

“‘Fight or Flight’ Supergirl’s powers are tested when Reactron, one of Superman’s formidable enemies, arrives in National City and targets the young hero. Also, Cat plans to run an expos on Supergirl, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Nov. 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Peter Facinelli guest stars as tech entrepreneur Maxwell Lord.”

In a previous interview with ComicBook.com at the New York Comic-Con, actor Peter Facinelli discussed his role as the mysterious persona Maxwell Lord. In the comics, as well as in previous recent adaptations, Maxwell Lord had been depicted as part hero, part sinister villain. Now, in Supergirl, he is set to win the affection of CatCo CEO Cat Grant. But is he a villain, too?

“I think there’s a gray area there,” Facinelli said, when asked if Lord will be a part of the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO). “I don’t think that he’s ever with anybody. He’s definitely got his own perspective on things and his own agenda and whatever works for him is what he’ll gravitate towards if it’s going to help him.”

As the actor had put it, Lord seem to have no time to meddle with superhero issues at all.

“Our planet in his mind is dying, so how do we fix that? Everything else is a distraction for him; it’s like, let’s not be distracted by two superheroes fighting in the sky; we’ve got to figure out our own problems. And if you look at that perspective, he’s right. It’s not like he’s trying to take over the world; it’s his perspective on how we fix our problems.”

Supergirl premieres Monday, October 26 on CBS.
