“Supergirl” is getting ready to adapt one Superman adventure for her own television series.
According to a report by Comic Book Resource, the comic book volume placed Superman in danger when an alien plant, called the Black Mercy, attaches itself to his chest and puts him in a catatonic state. This makes him dream of a perfect life in Krypton if the planet was not destroyed. However, this eventually becomes a nightmare.
In the series, it will be Kara who will fall victim to the parasite. “Kara’s friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home planet was never destroyed. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission,” Yahoo News posted.
The episode, titled “For the Girl Who Has Everything,” recently released the promo for the episode where Kara is shown to be trapped in a perfect fantasy of her life in Krypton. While she dreams of peace, her physical state remains in danger as shocks course through her body and her vitals become unstable.
Towards the end of the clip, Kara comes face-to-face with her parents but soon realizes that the fantasy world isn’t real and she begins to panic.
The series has been so far receiving positive reviews from critics and fans of the franchise. Metacritic has given it a rating of 75 percent while it has gained an impressive 97 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes. It also garnered a 6.4 star out of 10 from IMDB.
“Melissa Benoist shines as Superman’s plucky little cousin in Supergirl, a family-friendly comic-book adaptation that ditches cynicism for heart,” the general consensus on Rotten Tomatoes read.
Episode 13 airs on CBS on Feb. 8.
