CBS’ “Supergirl” has been enjoying good viewership ratings recently and the people behind the superhero themed show would like to keep it that way – if not going for the better. It is no secret that a large chunk of the success the show is experiencing is due to Calista Flockhart’s character Cat Grant. Cat serves not only as Supergirl a.k.a. Kara’s (Melissa Benoit) boss but also a mentor who helps her get out of icky situations.
Flockhart recently sat down with a group of journalists to talk about her character in “Supergirl,” sharing that it is nice to have the younger generation know her via the show. She also praised the brains behind the program for coming up with interesting plots week after week. Furthermore, she also talked about the development her character will go through as the season progresses.
“I’m not in charge of the writing, but they do such a brilliant job of just like you said, they peel it back every week. We see her sensitive side; we see the reason she behaves the way she does… So we just are slowly getting clued in to a more three-dimensional kind of character. What I really love about it is that she can snap right back into the old Cat as well. It’s flexible, in that she can kind of do whatever she wants,” the “Ally McBeal” star gushed.
Speaking of the growth of Cat in the show, fans have seen her relationship with Kara without having any hiccups recently, but it is reportedly going to change when Adam Foster, played by Benoit’s real life husband Blake Jenner, gets into the picture. Upcoming episodes will see Kara being introduced to Foster as a potential new love interest. While fans are getting hyped up by the “Glee” stars’ reunion, Foster’s connection to Cat is said to disrupt the relationship of the latter and Kara.
“Supergirl” airs every Monday at 8 P.M. on CBS.
