A crossover between two superhero TV series is set to happen next month. Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) will meet Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in episode 18 of “Supergirl” titled “Worlds Finest.”
There was initially some doubts on the possibility of a crossover since the two shows are being aired in different networks: “The Flash” on The CW and “Supergirl” on CBS. Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer of both TV shows, told The Wrap back in October that having such an episode would depend on the networks and Warners Bros.
He also said, “If we were to ever do [a crossover], we would have to explain why no one on ‘Arrow’ or ‘Flash’ or ‘Legends’ have ever mentioned that Superman exists.”
The production team has worked around this little problem in season 2 episode 13 of “The Flash,” which aired on Feb. 9. Titled “Welcome to Earth-2,” it showed Barry Allen, Cisco and Wells traveliing to Earth-2 through the breach at S.T.A.R. Labs. However, there was a surge of energy that destabilized the breach. As they traveled through it, they saw different events and people, including Supergirl who was flying around.
Kara may not be aware of The Flash just yet, but she is aware of her own challenges. In episode 14 of “Supergirl” titled “Truth, Justice, and the American Way,” she will go against, according to the synopsis posted on The Futon Critic, “the deadly Master Jailer (Jeff Branson), who is hunting and executing escaped Fort Rozz prisoners.” Kara also has to put up with Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci), the new assistant her boss Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) hires.
“Supergirl” episode 14 will be aired on CBS on Feb. 22 while the crossover episode will be shown on March 28.
