'Super Smash Bros.' DLC news: new DLC brings Corrin and Bayonetta

Two new downloadable characters are now available for “Super Smash Bros.” Bayonetta and Corrin from “Fire Emblem Fates” are now available, as previously announced by game director Masahiro Sakurai at the end of the recent “Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Niconico Championship.”

As reported by Shoryuken, Bayonetta and Corrin are now both available for purchase as downloadable characters for “Super Smash. Bros.” The duo of new DLC characters were released last Feb. 3 for the North American region and on Feb/ 4 for players in Japan. The arrival of the two new DLC characters also came with the release of various Mii fighter costumes.

In terms of gameplay, Bayonetta specializes in high damaging combo attacks, with the sacrifice of attack speed. All of her attacks deal chain combo damage of multiple hits. Her slower attack speed, however, make her more vulnerable to characters with faster attacks.

Bayonetta’s moves all come with a follow up attack from a gun from either of her four limbs, called “Bullet Arts.” A new stage also comes with Bayonetta, called the Umbra Tower.

As for Corrin, the character will be available either in its male or female version, both of which work identical within the game. In the game, Corrin wields the final form of the Yato blade, the Omega Yato. Corrin can also use the Dragon Fang to transform into a dragon. When transformed, Corrin makes use of certain body parts of the dragon form such as the wings and the long reach it gives in attacking.

Corrin, however, does not include a special stage. The character does, however, include new “Fire Emblem” music which can be used in any “Fire Emblem” stage in the game.

The Corrin and Bayonetta DLC packs can be purchased individually for a price of $5.99 for either the Wii U or the 3DS version, or a package for both console platforms for a price of $6.99.
