While “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” assembled the heroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), another film from DC will bring together the villains instead in “Suicide Squad.”
A brand new international trailer was recently released with new clips of the squad of DC’s most notorious bad guys going in stakeouts under the supervision of the government. While chunk of it has been seen in previous sneak peeks, fans saw more of Jared Leto’s take on the classic Joker, which arguably is one of the much anticipated points of the movie.
Until now, there have only been limited snippets of the Batman villain to preserve the thrill when the movie finally opens up in theaters on August 6. Given that the last incarnation of the Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger, did not only thrill audiences but also garnered praise from critics, Leto is up for a daunting challenge to make the role his own. Fortunately, it looks like there will be no problem with his bringing the character to life as “Suicide Squad” director, David Ayer, has nothing but high praises for the Academy Award winner.
“When he steps onto the set the world stops… Everything stops. What he’s done is so powerful, so menacing, so palpable, you can feel him,” Ayer told Total Film as reported by Vulture.
“The crew stops working and just watches him. I have to get everybody going again because he’s so fascinating.”
It seems like all of Leto’s rigorous process in an effort to fully imbibe the character has paid off. This is good news for loyal DC fans because from the looks of it, he will be carrying the Joker torch for quite a while. Movie Pilot reported that he is also said to be appearing in the planned 2018 Batman standalone movie top billed by Ben Affleck. On top of that a “Suicide Squad 2” is also purportedly in the pipeline for the ever growing DC Extended Universe (DCEU.)
