'Suicide Squad' movie news: Batman may have a bigger role in film than expected

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” star Ben Affleck may have a bigger role in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film “Suicide Squad” as what may have been previously expected by fans, as rumors pointed out that Affleck’s new take on the Dark Knight of Gotham City would be more involved in the film’s storyline.

In a recent report by Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez and Daniel Alter, an unnamed source tipped that Warner Bros. Pictures had Affleck involved in the upcoming DCEU film “Suicide Squad” more than what the storyline may have been hinting on.

According to the source, it appears that Affleck’s Batman will appear in the film as more than a mere cameo. In the trailer for the film, fans got to see Batman riding the car of the Joker in a presumably tense road chase between the two iconic enemies.

“The film tested recently, they had test screenings, and according to sources, check this out, there is a lot more Batman in the movie than they are letting on,” Gonzalez said.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” finally come, and while the film had been critically panned, the much awaited crossover film still became a blockbuster hit in theaters. Fans got to see Ben Affleck as the new Bruce Wayne, which was shown in a time when he had been the Batman for more than two decades, leaving 20 years’ worth of backstory waiting to be told.

On the other hand, the upcoming “Suicide Squad” will feature a team of villains taking on the job of superheroes in a twisted contract that will grant them tier freedom once accomplished. The film will feature a number of, if not all of them, iconic Batman villains. One is The Jokerthough not being a member of the Suicide Squadand his partner in crime Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, and others.

Whether the Batman would appear in the current time or in the past on flashbacks was not specified.

“Suicide Squad” will hit theaters on Aug. 5.
