'Steven Universe' season 4 release date: Show creator to announce series' return at New York Comic Con?

It has been weeks since “Steven Universe” aired a new episode, and it has been speculated that the show might take a while before it returns to Cartoon Network. While the show gave fans a treat with a Stevenbomb event last summer, the series has yet to air a follow-up to the Sept. 15 episode titled “Onion Gang,” and Cartoon Network has not released a schedule as to when the rest of season 4 will start airing.

However, viewers might get some answers soon as show creator Rebecca Sugar confirmed that she will be appearing at New York Comic Con (NYCC) this week. The pop culture event, which will take place at the Javits Center in New York City from Oct. 6 to 9, will host Sugar and the rest of the “Steven Universe” gang as they preview the rest of the current season and sign some autographs for a few lucky fans.

According to the NYCC official website, Sugar and “some special gems” will be at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Oct. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET to debut some never-before-seen footage, as well as an inside look at the making of “Steven Universe” and Sugar’s new book, “The Answer.”

It was also said that with the Crewniverse around, things are “bound to get musical” at the panel. It is expected that Sugar will reveal when the show will return, and it is likely that the show creator will give some spoilers regarding upcoming episodes. Based on the announcement, it’s likely that Sugar will be accompanied by the cast comprised of Zach Callison (Steven), Estelle (Garnet), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), Deedee Magno (Pearl), and Tom Scharpling (Greg).

It was previously rumored that the show will return with a Thanksgiving special titled “Gem Harvest.” Cartoon Network has yet to confirm the episode title and announce a return date for “Steven Universe.”
