'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 spoilers: Ahsoka will return, Dave Filoni confirms

“Star Wars” Celebration Europe is now in full swing and while fans may have a lot of things to look forward to about the galaxy far, far away, first on the pipeline is the confirmation that Ahsoka will still be part of “Star Wars Rebels” season 3.

Series creator Dave Filoni reportedly spilled the fate of the “Clone Wars” veteran during the “Ahsoka’s Untold Tales” panel in Celebration.

“It just might be possible … It doesn’t necessarily mean what some of us would hope it means. But it might be possible to see her again. She might have something to do,” the franchise veteran heading the Disney XD series revealed.

It can be remembered that after Ahsoka’s emotional duel with Darth Vader, also known as her former Jedi master, Anakin Skywalker, during the “Rebels” season 2 finale, Ahsoka had been left in the old temple as the Ghost Crew flew away. Since then, her whereabouts have been a conversation starter among fans of the show.

“The fan support behind her is a strong argument. I’ve always had a story in mind, so I haven’t changed that story in all honesty … She’s become very important as people realize she’s got a relationship to Anakin, Darth Vader, now more than ever. There’s a lot there as a character that I think is exciting to explore,” he added.

Filoni’s statement may be on the vague side given his ability to answer a question and seemingly not answer it at the same time. And in whatever form Ahsoka will take on next season, fans would have to patiently wait as it can be safely assumed that it will play a pivotal role in the overall narrative of the chapter.

Meanwhile, even before the Star Wars Celebration Europe kicked off, Filoni had already treated fans with a sneak peek of what is to come when the third season of the hit animated show premieres. Dropping by the franchise’s official YouTube account for “The Star Wars Show,” the writer debuted a short clip that sees Ezra sporting shorter hair and seemingly having better command of the situation and even his squad mates. Aside from the haircut as well as his new hybrid blaster and lightsaber, there is also a noticeable maturity from getting older in the Jedi Padawan which may mean that a time jump has been incorporated.

With fans having an idea of where Ahsoka and Ezra stand for “Rebels” season 3, Kanan on the other hand has yet to be talked about. By the end of the show’s sophomore run, the Jedi is presented with a brand-new challenge as he loses his eyesight from his duel with Darth Maul. It is almost expected that Kanan will eventually make an appearance in the forthcoming installment of the show. However given the lapse in time it will be interesting to see how he copes with fighting the Empire without his ability to see or even his involvement with the Rebel Alliance with his disability.
