'Star Wars' news: 'Episode VIII' starts filming this month in London

Looking at the timeline that Disney released regarding the upcoming “Star Wars” movies, whether spinoffs or main films, fans still have a year before “Rogue One” comes out and roughly a year and a half wait for “Star Wars: Episode VIII.”

“We’re excited to get back together. We start shooting ‘Episode VIII’ in January, we’ve been prepping the movie for the last year and (writer-and-director) Rian Johnson has been doing an amazing job,” Kathleen Kennedy of LucasFilm reveals via website Den of Geek.

Even actor John Boyega also shared that the team will be coming back together again to start filming “Episode VIII” in London while visiting some cinemas in the same city. The British actor plays Finn, the rogue Stromtrooper who realizes that he does not want to be on the dark side and since then helped Resistance Pilot, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) escape.

There is a lot to look forward to the “Force Awakens'” follow up as the opener for the next trilogy has just started a whole new adventure for the new generation of heroes and anti-heroes from the galaxy far far away.

While “Episode VII” is dubbed as a Han Solo (Harrison Ford) movie given that a lot of plot points revolved around him like Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) being his and General Organa’s (Carrie Fisher) son, fans are clamoring for more of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

The only remaining jedi was in hiding the whole film and was only revealed in the last screen shot while Rey (Daisy Ridley) hands him his lightsaber. Fans of the space soap opera are diligently mining on some books and novels on possible spoilers for “Episode VIII.”

However, if the secrecy of the last film is any indication on how Disney and LucasFilm is going to handle “Episode VIII,” it is safe to say that there will be a lot of guessing games until the film finally drops on May 26, 2017.
