Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) didn’t get much screen time in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) got the lion’s share of the attention from viewers who longed to see the original “Star Wars” cast back in the big screen. But things are about to change in “Star Wars: Episode 8.”
Sources say the upcoming film will put the limelight back on Leia as she continues to lead the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. Apparently, Fisher was really busy that she had to change her appearance schedule for next month’s New York Comic Con (NYCC).
The NYCC Twitter post revealed that Fisher would only be at the fan convention on Sunday, Oct. 9 because she will be busy working on the upcoming film. However, an article on BGR pointed out that she might simply be reshooting some scenes in the movie.
Meanwhile, Fisher attended the Saskatoon Comic and Entertainment Expo last week and she talked about her character at the event. She also shared her thoughts on why the relationship between Leia and Han didn’t work out.
“He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism.”
Well, that’s an interesting take on things.
In other news, Making Star Wars revealed that Kelly Marie Tran’s character and Finn (John Boyega) will be in a space bomb scene. While codenames were used on set, the site believes that the five Grizzlies with the grizzly bombs were Resistance fighters while the 22 Sugar Cubes were First Order Stormtroopers. It isn’t clear if the actors were on set; however, their stand-ins were there for the action scenes.
“Star Wars: Episode 8” will come out on Dec. 15, 2017.
