For a film that won’t come out until the end of 2017, “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is certainly attracting a lot of attention from the online community. Forums are rife with rumors regarding the sequel’s plotline, but one thing is a given Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) will definitely play a larger role in this film compared to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Earlier this month, Hamill revealed that the production team had been working on a number of special effects sequences for his character. So, what are the scenes going to be about?
Sources say the Knights of Ren will battle with Luke, and he will defeat them all. He will then face his nephew, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who retreats from the fight since he knows he does not have the skills to fight his former master.
The battle will supposedly take place in the planet Ahch-To during a rainy sunset. Before Kylo faces off against Luke, he will also battle Rey (Daisy Ridley) and he apparently defeats her as she falls off a cliff. Fans don’t have to worry about her fate because she is going to have another lightsaber duel scene with Kylo later in the film.
There are rumors saying that the special effects sequence may involve Luke piloting an X-wing starfighter once again, or some other vehicle. According to several reports, Yoda (Frank Oz) may also appear as a Force ghost in the film to guide Luke and Rey.
Meanwhile, fan site Making Star Wars managed to get their hands on a couple of videos that were taken from the movie’s filming site in Ireland. One of the videos shows someone in an alien bodysuit. Other than that, not much is known about filming.
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” is set to hit cinemas on Dec. 15, 2017.
