As the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens gets closer and closer to its highly anticipated blockbuster release, more and more inside information are revealed. While none of these are official in any way, fans can’t help but ponder over these interesting news stories about the return of the legendary franchise to the big screen.
Just recently, rumors floated about the backstory of Chewbacca and Han Solo on The Force Awakens. According to Making Star Warsa trusted source on everything that has to do with spoilers on The Force Awakensthe reason behind the friendship of Chewbacca and Han Solo is a life debt.
“Chewbacca is captured and put into slavery in the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith and the invasion of Kashyyyk. Han Solo frees the Wookiee and therefore Chewbacca owes Han Solo a life debt,” it reported.
While the upcoming movie is set to bring about changes in the original canon that long-time fans have been familiar with, Han Solo remains a Corellian. However, it appears that Chewie and Han do not have their beloved Millenium Falcon by the time the film starts. The reason has not yet been revealed. Whether it was stolen, destroyed, or sold, may yet be revealed.
This ties in with previous rumors of Chewie and Han possibly piloting a different ship from the Millenium Falcon.
Meanwhile, as early as now, actor Benicio del Toro is rumored to be in the talks to take on the role of a major villain in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. The said film is set with a placeholder release date of 2017.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18.
