'Star Wars Battlefront' Outer Rim DLC news: Free access to new expansion this weekend

The new DLC expansion pack for the hit game “Star Wars Battlefront,” “Outer Rim,” is now available for all players across all platforms for free this weekend. Game developer DICE Studios explained the limitations and content that can be accessed by players who will take advantage of the free limited offer.

The limited free access offer will let gamers play the new “Star Wars Battlefront” Outer Rim Maps. There are a total of four playable maps: Jabba’s Palace and the Palace Garage on Tatooine, SoroSuub Refinery and Pipelines on Sullust.

Aside from access to new maps, players can also experience the newest game mode that was first introduced when the expansion pack was released, which is called Extraction.

Additionally, new characters that came with the DLC when it was released are also now open to players. The two new characters that made their debut in the game were Nien Nunb and Greedo.

However, it appears that not everything can be accessed in this limited offer. For players who will only be playing the DLC under the free offer run, it turns out that they will not be able to experience the special Outer Rim Hutt Contracts.

“While you will be able to access the free Hutt Contract weapons, the Outer Rim specific weapons and Star Cards will only be accessible to our Season Pass and Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim Digital Standalone Pass holders during the free trial event,” the game developer explained.

Once the limited offer expires, players who do not own the game’s Season Pass will lose access to all content related to the Outer Rim DLC. “After that time, you will need to own either the Season Pass or the Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim Digital Standalone Pass to access the content.”

However, it was not mentioned if the player’s progress will carry over should a Season Pass after the free trial will be purchased.
