The recently released game “Star Wars Battlefront” has yet to receive its first paid expansion but according to a listing on the website of retailer GameStop, the first expansion called “Outer Rim” will be arriving on April 5. According to a Polygon report, the DLC’s launch date is past its original schedule of March.
The listing on GameStop indicated how much the DLC will retail – $14.99 – and the time on April 5 it will be available for downloads, which is 9:00 a.m., CST. Season Pass holders of the game, however, will get the DLC for free as part of the package. The Season Pass costs $49.99 and entitles the player to all four paid expansions for the game.
The DLC will be bringing several new characters that players can choose from. These include Lando Calrissian’s co-pilot, the Sullustan Nien Nunb, Greedo, a Rodian or a reptilian humanoid species known for their violent behavior. According to a report in N4BB, these new characters are quite unexpected. Along with these new characters will be new weapons that they will wield, which include a Relby V-10 rifle, a DT-12 blaster pistol, a Scatter Gun (star card), a Dioxis Grenade (star card) and an Adrenaline Stim (star card).
New maps will also be introduced to the game. According to Polygon, one of these will be Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Tattooine while another will be a smelting factory on the home planet of Nunb, Sullust.
A new game mode called “Extraction” is described to be a variation of the “capture-the-flag” game, wherein Rebels have to “extract” resources from the Outer Rim and bring this out while the Imperial Forces try to stop them. Extraction has to be done before the timer runs out.
So far, the game has received several free updates and the developer continues to say that more free updates are coming. The most recent one brought content related to Jabba the Hutt, also called the “Hutt Contracts.”
The Season Pass is still available on retail, with some retailers offering discounts for PS4 codes and Xbox Live offering a $5 discount for subscribers of Xbox Live Gold.
