'Star Trek Beyond' premieres at San Diego Comic Con 2016

The recently released trailer of “Star Trek Beyond” revealed the villain of the upcoming film.

Fans have been anticipating the upcoming installment of the “Star Trek” franchise as it is expected to bring stellar actors to the big screens. With that, fans got to see their characters in action in the trailer of the film.

The trailer showed the new villain of “Star Trek Beyond,” which is played by Idris Elba. His character, Krall, was seen wrecking the Enterprise with his new and powerful weapon, which will leave several characters stranded on a planet.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Elba warned fans that his character will bring a lot of danger. He said, “Yes. What’s interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for. Krall’s a character who’s deeply steeped in hatred in my opinion, a well-earned hatred for the Federation. It felt quite political. There’s a relatability to what’s happening in our world. Not everybody’s happy with what everybody calls the good guys.”

Meanwhile, fans are waiting to see more of the film in the upcoming San Diego Comic Con. It was said that “Star Trek Beyond” will start off the upcoming event, which will take place at the Embarcadero Marina Park South this Jul. 20.

The event will present some exclusive footage and special screening of the film. It was reported that the San Diego Comic Con will feature the first outdoor IMAX world premiere. In addition, those attending the event will experience the film scoring, which was written by Michael Giacchino, played by The San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

According to Screen Crush, the director of the film, Justin Lin, also expressed his excitement for the upcoming event. He said, “I am thrilled to celebrate the premiere of the film together with the fans at Comic-Con and excited for everyone there to experience Michael Giacchino’s incredible score played live.”

“Star Trek Beyond” is expected to hit theaters this July 22.
