As filming finally wraps up for “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” fresh rumors saying the film is going to feature yet another villain have started to pop up. The Vulture is confirmed to appear, and many believe “Birdman” actor Michael Keaton will be playing the character. How fitting. The Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) and the Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine) are also set to appear. That’s already a handful of villains; however, there may be one more.
The latest rumor says Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will be facing a very special opponent in the upcoming film. Apparently, this antagonist isn’t exactly a supervillain out to cause mayhem. The guy happens to be a man Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) is dating. This rumor originated from Schmoes Knows, but the link to the page is no longer working.
Cinemablend believes that Logan Marshall-Green may be playing the character, and the man is supposed to have a certain connection to the Vulture, which explains why Spider-Man doesn’t trust him.
We Got This Covered went a step further by suggesting that Marshall-Green will be playing Nathan Lubensky, a man who dated Aunt May in the comic books until he died of a heart attack. The comic book character is also friends with the Vulture, but Lubensky isn’t a bad person.
The Schmoes Knows article also said that a character important to the “Spider-Man” lore will appear in the film. We Got This Covered believes that it may be one of these three Spider-Man mainstays: Norman Osborn, Eddie Brock, or J. Jonah Jameson.
As of this moment, the rumor has yet to be verified, so readers are advised to take it with a grain of salt. One of the recent rumors coming from Schmoes Knows has already been debunked vehemently by “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” director James Gunn, so there’s certainly a possibility that this rumor is false as well.
