With Space Jam 2 already reportedly in development, rumors are rife that NBA superstar Lebron James is set to star in the latest installment of the franchise launched by Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes gang.
The rumors were made more plausible by Lebron’s recent signing of a partnership with Warner Bros., the long time home of Bugs Bunny and friends.
“LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment. The combination of LeBron’s global media presence and Warner Bros.’ unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere,” Warner Bros. CEO and Chairman Kevin Tsujihara said of the agreement.
In a recent Twitter Q & A, Lebron was asked by a fan if he is confirmed to join the new Space jam movie. He remained noncommittal with his answer but did not dismiss the possibility outright.
His reply has been retweeted by over 2,000 Twitter users and favorited by just as many.
While Lebron is still unsure whether he would like to be on board when the studio possibly makes an offer, fellow NBA player Willie Cauley-Smith aka Trill unabashedly showed his support for the revival of the 1996 movie.
He posted an Instagram image of his feet wearing custom Nike Roshe shoes and Looney Tunes socks and captioned it Tune Squad, which was the basketball team the Looney Tunes formed to defeat the Monstars.
