'Sons of Anarchy' prequel release date rumors: Prequel in the works?

The final season of “Sons of Anarchy” ended almost two years ago, and there are speculations that there might be a spin-off series that is in the works. If rumors prove to be true, fans of the show are hoping for Charlie Hunnam to reprise his role as Jax Teller.

There are reports stating that the creator of the series, Kurt Sutter, is involved with another project that may be related to the series. Some fans are speculating that it may actually a spin-off that will serve as a prequel to the main series.

There were already reports back in 2013 that Sutter had already been in discussion with cable network FX regarding the possible development of a prequel series. However, there are no plot details yet for the rumored series.

There are rumors that it may actually be about Jax’s story, specifically on how he joined Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO). However, Hunnam has already stated before that he is not interested in reprising his role. Moreover, the actor has also stated that he wants to prioritize his family first. At this time, he is also involved in other projects to further his career.

There are other speculations that the prequel may actually be set in the 1960s and may probably focus on the story of “The First 9” co-founders Jax’s father John Teller and Piney Winston.

Jax’s story before the events of “Sons of Anarchy” has already been told but in a different kind of medium a comic book. The writer of the comic book, Ollie Masters, was able to speak to The Hollywood Reporter and revealed some details about the comic book prequel titled “Sons of Anarchy Redwood Original.”

He mentioned, “It’s Jax prospecting to become a full club member. This is a story about him proving himself to the club, to their enemies and allies and to himself.”

Unfortunately, there are no official announcements yet regarding the release of a
“Sons of Anarchy” spin-off.
