'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 spoilers, cast news: 'True Blood' alum Janina Gavankar is Ichabod's new partner, Diana

Tom Mison’s Ichabod is no longer looking for a partner as “True Blood” alum Janina Gavankar has joined the cast of “Sleepy Hollow” season 4 as Diana, according to Deadline.

After a couple months of wondering whether Ichabod would be going solo following the death of Nicole Beharie’s Abbie, fans of the show can now look forward to getting to know his new companion.

It can be remembered that by the end of season 3, “Sleepy Hollow” pulled a big shocker when Abbie was killed in the final moments of the episode. The supernatural series understandably received from flak with regard to the controversial move but FOX decided to push forward with another season, despite fans’ clamor to just leave the show as it is.

Now, with the new supposed lead getting introduced, loyalists of the series are a bit wary of what Diana will bring to the table for “Sleepy Hollow.”

According to a brief character description, Ichabod’s new partner comes from a military background and is a single mother. Fans should expect to see some friction between Ichabod and Diana as they have different approaches when tackling missions. While Ichabod is highly methodical and research-focused, Diana, on the other hand, is very hands-on and active. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that at the end of the day they will be effective partners.

Prior to the casting announcement, TV Line already revealed that production was looking to cast a new companion. However, at that time, the character was still named Anna instead of Diana. Nevertheless, the two roles have the same character description which suggests that a name change may have happened along the way.

A lot is riding on this new team-up as the success of “Sleepy Hollow,” arguably, has always been attributed to Ichabod and Abbie’s dynamics. With Beharie already out of the picture, it is interesting how Mison and Gavankar’s chemistry will pan out.

“Sleepy Hollow” has no official return date as of yet.
