'Sister Wives' season 8 rumors: Kody Brown and wives' TLC reality show to be cancelled?

The seventh season of “Sister Wives” ended in a hopeful note after Meri Brown’s catfishing scandal shook the Brown family. In the finale, Kody and Meri had a talk about their relationship, and while Kody said that it may never be the same again, he hoped that mutual respect would turn into something more down the line. Right now, TLC has yet to renew the reality series for an eighth season, yet rumors claim that the network might choose to cancel the show due to infighting among the wives.

There are also reports that Kody is planning to have a new wife in order for the show to get a season 8 renewal. The patriarch reportedly wants a new wife to join Janelle, Meri, Christine and Robyn, and that he has set his sights on Mindy Jessop, who works as the nanny of his youngest son and also happens to be the step-niece of Robyn. Kody is said to be looking for a younger and more attractive wife, and that the four are not happy about it.

However, Ecumenical News claims that there is no truth to these rumors, with Meri and Robyn having previously debunked the infighting rumors. Meri reportedly said that everything is fine between her and the other wives.

Moreover, TLC continues to post updates about the Brown family while the show is on hiatus, which means that it’s unlikely that the network will axe the series anytime soon. The latest update was posted on the show’s official Facebook page on Monday, Aug. 22, and it was a video of Kody and Janelle’s daughter, Maddie, and her husband, Caleb Brush. The two tied the knot back in June.

If the show does get renewed for an eighth season, it is expected that the storyline will focus on some of Kody’s children and will also likely reveal details about the family’s petition to have the U.S. Supreme Court recognize plural marriages.
