It looks like the dysfunctional family of Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) is going to kick it up a notch when “Shameless” season 7 premieres in just a few days.
Macy had a chat with The Huffington Post at Showtime’s annual Emmys Eve party earlier this month, and he talked about how the post-credits scene in the season 6 finale ties up with the premiere episode.
“At the end of last season, they tossed me off the bridge because they were pissed off about something,” the actor said. “Apparently, I floated all the way up to Lake Michigan when they pulled me up, and I was in a coma for a good long time. And I think they are going to start this season with an underwater ballet. I’m not kidding! I’ve seen a little bit of it and it’s pretty stunning. It’s funny and beautiful.”
Fans will remember that Frank was thrown off a bridge into a river by his own children Debbie (Emma Kennedy), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky). Kevin Ball (Steve Howey), Svetlana Fisher (Isidora Goreshter), Veronica Fisher (Shanola Hampton), and Ian’s boyfriend Caleb (Jeff Pierre) were also there. This goes to show that they had enough of his antics.
Sources say Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum) is going to be the head of the family when the season starts and she will find it difficult to make ends meet without Frank. However, her name is conspicuously missing in the synopsis for the premiere episode, which has led some to believe that she is going to walk out on the family.
In the official trailer for season 7, she can be heard saying, “The past 10 years I’ve taken care of every Gallagher in this family except one. I’m done.”
There are also reports saying Frank is going to replace his old family with a new one once he finds out they were responsible for his amnesia. Now, that can be an interesting development if it is true.
“Shameless” season 7 airs on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
