Sense8 is coming back for a second season!

After endless requests and demand form fans, Netflix announced that their new yet greatly popular sci-fi series would be coming back for a second season.

The official Nextflix Twitter account posted on Saturday morning a birthday greeting for the sci-fi series, along with the announcement that the series was “reborn”.

“Birthdays are just the beginning. #sense8 is reborn,” Netflix tweeted.

Along with the tweet was a greeting video of the show’s cast, each greeting the series a happy birthday.

Sense8 is a sci-fi show which tells the story of eight people who suddenly find themselves connected to each othermentally and emotionallyafter experiencing a vision of a woman’s death. They are Will, Riley, Capheus, Sun, Lito, Kala, Wolfgang, and Nomi. Collectively they are called sensates and are complete strangers, from different cultures, and from different parts of the world. Struggling to understand what’s happening to them, a sensate by the name of Jonas Maliki comes to help them against the rogue sensate by the name of “Whispers”, who aims to bring down all of their kind.

J. Michael Straczynski, the show’s co-creator along with The Wachowskis, said that he was at first “cautiously optimistic” about a second season, but the demand and reaction from viewers and fans was overwhelming. Despite the show having a number of sceptical reviews with its early episodes, it later on gained a large fanbase and was later critically acclaimed as a sci-fi series.

“There’s been a tendency for science fiction to be seen as something other than for adults,” he said. “It tends to be about either the MacGuffin, the device, the magic, the gadget, the gimmick or the mission. We wanted to make this show about the journey and [do something] for grown-ups.”

Sense8 season two will come soon to Netflix, with the exact premiere date yet to be confirmed.
