The Netflix original “Sense8” has been filming for its next season and fans of the show are now curious about its release date.

The season 1 finale clearly showed that there will be a sophomore season. However, the Netflix management wasn’t able to announce that “Sense8” is included on the list of renewed shows, causing fans assume that the show got cancelled.  Now that season 2 is underway, fans are now eager to know what to expect next season.

“Sense8” writer Bryce Olin said in a Reddit forum that the team is aiming for a June 2016 release, but that the said timeline might be too ambitious.

Olin added that he hopes that Netflix can release the show’s season 2 in June, but simple math suggests that they should not expect season 2 until summer or fall of 2016.

The fact that the show is being filmed in different parts of the world, it’s quite okay for its upcoming season to take some time to be released.

Furthermore, reports say that the show’s next season will center on the love triangle involving Rajan Rasal (Purab Kohli), Kala Dandekar (Tina Desai) and Wolfgang Bogdanow (Max Riemelt).

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Riemelt said, “There’s more sex, more violence, more of everything! We’re pushing the boundaries.”

Meanwhile, according to the same BuzzFeed report, one of the show’s co-creator and director Lilly Wachowski will be taking some time off from her directorial duties and leave it to her sister Lana. However, she will remain active as the show’s co-creator.

Now that season 2 lies solely on Lana, Jamie Clayton, who portrays the transgender activist Nomi Marks said, “Lana is absolutely a superwoman.” She added, “The way she channels her energy and her creativity … it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I’m in her presence. She’s an absolute force.”

“Sense8” season 1 is still available to stream on Netflix.
