After the original missed announcement for a renewal, Netflix has finally confirmed that “Sense8” will get a second season. However, it still remains unclear when the airdate will be.
The original season came out last June, and it is expected that the following season will follow the same schedule. However, there are now reports that hint that the show will not be released until late 2016.
In a Reddit forum, “Sense8” writer Bryce Olin acknowledged that while they want to go with a June release, it may be difficult to achieve.
“I really hope Netflix can release ‘Sense8’ deason 2 in June, but simple math suggests we really shouldn’t ‘expect’ to see deason 2 until much later in the summer or fall of 2016,” she said.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise because the show is shot in different parts of the world, which was one of the issues considered before approving the renewal.
This does not keep fans from speculating what the trajectory of the second season will be, however, and many are guessing that the love triangle of Rajan (Purab Kohli), Kala (Tina Desai), and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) will be one of the primary focuses of the show.
Some rumors also suggest that Rajan will be the main villain in the second season and that this will push Kala to further develop her feelings for Wolfgang.
Meanwhile, a report from IBTimes indicated that filming for the series will only begin this March.
The report also said that the second season may answer the question of whether Will will be able to return to his consciousness, the storyline which teases the possibility of the Whispers returning and holding power over him forever.
It remains to be seen the extent of where and how the sensates will hide him from the Whispers.
