Twenty-three-year-old singer and actress Selena Gomez is confirmed for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Show as one of the main performers of the evening. Gomez will join this year’s breakout RNB singer The Weeknd and English singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding completing the list of musicians performing on the catwalk for the annual fashion show. Goulding will be replacing Rihanna who is up to release her highly-anticipated new album “Anti.” The Barbadian singer has pulled out from the show to focus on her music, E Online reports.
The show which will be featuring Victoria’s Secret staples like Adrianna Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Candace Swanepol, Lily Aldridge and upcoming supermodels like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner will be back in New York City after an on the road show last year in London.
However, even before the show formally starts its promotional activities, there has been alleged awkwardness between Gomez and Kendall Jenner. Jenner, supermodel and second youngest child of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, was once friends with the “The Heart Wants What It Wants” singer and even attended Coachella together in 2014. The two have, however, reportedly stopped hanging out with each other after Jenner started getting close and spending time with Canadian pop singer, Justin Bieber. Bieber was involved in a much publicized romantic relationship with Gomez.
On top of the Victoria’s Secret gig this year, the former Disney star has also recently released a new album called “Revival.” In an interview with Refinery29 last October, she talked about her music and the process she underwent to be able to convey the message she wants to using her new album. “The year wasn’t just me trying to transition in my career it was my whole life. I had to reconfigure everything,” Gomez explained.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show will air on Dec. 8, 10pm, on CBS.
