Scream Queens news: release date coming September 22; Charisma Carpenter joins cast as mom

Delicious and horror do not usually come together but they do so well with Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s new show Scream Queens.

The powerhouse cast, headed by Jamie Lee Curtis Smith, Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, Charisma Carpenter, Nick Jonas, Abigail Breslin, Oliver Hudson, Skyler Samuels, Ariana Grande and Keke Palmer provided a lot of entertainment during the release of the teaser trailer which left news sites from all over raving. The show is set to premiere this September 22 on Fox.

Charisma’s addition to the cast was the freshest bit of update, according to E Online’s TV Scoop. She used to play Cordelia in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and now she is playing as the mother of pop star Ariana Grande in the show. Grande’s role remains to be confirmed. Based on the trailer, she is one of the sorority girls alongside Emma Roberts.

It seems like Lea Michele is particularly having a good time with her female co-stars, reported The Daily Mail. She may not have had bosom buddy status with her former female co-stars at Glee all the time, but it seems like she is hitting it off well with Emma Roberts and other members of the Scream Queens cast as they were even seen working out and having fun together.

The premiere episode will run for two hours, according to Deadline.

The story begins with a troubled past in the Kappa House that continues to haunt the present sorority sisters. Jamie Lee Curtis plays the role of stern school headmistress who muscles in the recruitment process and bullies Emma Roberts into accepting non-traditional sorority girl types such as back brace-laden Lea Michele. Together, the girls figure out who is behind the mystery murders that seem to point them back to the past.
