Finally, the successor to the Galaxy Tab S is here.
Samsung has unveiled the newest Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 last July 20. In the official press release by Samsung, the new device was described as “the most immersive” Samsung tablet thus far.
“Building on the great success of the Galaxy Tab S, the new Galaxy Tab S2 is the slimmest and lightest tablet on the market,” said Conor Pierce, Vice President, IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland.
“We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the ultimate device for people looking to upgrade to the latest viewing experience, combined with a fantastic device that enhances their day to day life,” he said.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 boasts of a stunning Super AMOLED display, with the ability to recreate the same viewing experience as that of traditional media, especially for people who read eBooks, magazines, e-newspapers, etc. The device is only 5.6 mm thin and weighs only 389g for the 9.7-inch variant and 265g for the 8-inch variant. A fingerprint sensor will also be included in the device.
The Galaxy Tab S2 will run with an Octacore processor, with one clocking in at 1.9GHz, and another at 1.3GHz. It has 3GB of RAM with two variants — 32GB or 64GB of built-in internal storage capacity. It will support external microSD expansion of up to 128GB. The 9.7-inch variant will be powered by a 5870mAh battery, while the 8-inch variant will be powered by a 4000mAh battery. Both variants will boot on Android Lollipop 5.0.
Variants of Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and LTE will also be available.
Samsung did not indicate the selling price for the Galaxy Tab S2, but the new device will be released this August.
