Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors: features of 'Jungfrau' smartphone tipped to include Snapdragon 820 chip

The Samsung Galaxy S7, while still in no way official, is once more hot on the rumor mill, with leaked details revealing key specifications for the rumored next-gen smartphone.

According to a report by G For Games, leaked internal documents from Samsung reveal that the upcoming Samsung smartphone with the codename “Jungfrau”which is expected to be the Galaxy S7will be running under a MSM8996. The MSM8996 is the internal codename for the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor.

Previous reports have indicated that Samsung used to test both the Snapdragon 820 chip as well as their very own Exynos processor for the rumored Galaxy S7.

The report also said that Samsung is pushing through a much faster development process with the “Jungfaru” project, with the use of an improved project management process called as “Agile”. This could mean that Samsung plans to have the upcoming flagship that will follow the line of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 to be final and ready before the year ends, and to have a possible early 2016 release.

Another hardware improvement that was rumored to be coming to the Galaxy S7 is the utilization of a foldable display. Business Korea previously reported that a Samsung official said that foldable displays would be possible for the year 2016.

Going back to a statement they made last year, it has been in the buzz that Samsung may be finally working on a foldable display for the upcoming Galaxy S7. Talking to ZDNet last year, Lee Chang-hoon, VP of Samsung Display, teased an innovation they are getting ready for.

“We will secure production capacity of 30,000 to 40,000 [flexible displays each month] by the end of next year,” he said. “There will be no company [except Samsung] that has this great production capacity by 2016. We plan to provide consumers with a product that has a flexible display by the end of the year. However, nothing has been decided on the finished product.”
