Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus release date, specs: new leak reveals bigger device with 5.7-inch AMOLED screen and 1080p video shooting but no S-Pen


Newly leaked specs have revealed what the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a bigger version of the S6 Edge with some slight differences.

According to Slash Gear, it received leaked diagrams that show the specifications that buyers can expect from the S6 Edge Plus. One of the marked differences between the S6 Edge and the bigger S6 Edge Plus is the absence of the S-Pen.

The S6 Edge Plus also has a bigger screen compared to the S6 Edge. The display is a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen capable of 1600 pixels x 2560 pixels resolution. Possible processors behind the hood including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 or Samsung’s Exynos 7422, which is expected to be supported by 3GB of RAM.

Slash Gear said that the S6 Edge Plus will come with three internal storage options 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

As for its cameras, the S6 Edge Plus will have a 5-megapixel camera with 120-degree wide angle lens. The front shooter can record videos at 1080p resolution. On the other hand, the main camera is a 16-megapixel shooter whose video capabilities include 4k resolution, and 60fps for 1080p recording. The rear camera, Slash Gear revealed, shares a similar sensor with the S6 rather than the S6 Edge.

While there have been no official release date for the S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 Edge, Tech Times said that reports are pointing to the IFA 2015 event in Berlin as a likely venue for Samsung to unveil the two devices.

A separate report by the Tech Times also revealed that Sprint has already made a filing with the Federal Communications Commission for the S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 Edge devices that the telco carrier will be releasing. This filing, the article said, is indicative that Samsung is close to releasing the two devices, possibly during IFA 2015 as widely rumored.
