Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs: Redesigned S Pen, more functions for the iris scanner tipped


Rumor has it that the upcoming flagship phablet of South Korean tech giant Samsung, the new Galaxy Note 7, would feature a redesigned and more capable S Pen stylus, as well as more functionalities for the iris scanner.

According to mobile industry tipster iGyaan, a source revealed that an internal memo from Samsung detailed the new features of the iconic S Pen of the device. According to the report, the S Pen would now have the ability to activate two new commands Dictionary and Speaking. While no additional details were provided, the first of the two would obviously provide definitions to its users, while the latter is speculated to give voice to any text input users make with the S Pen.

The S Pen is also said to come with a new design. The upcoming Galaxy Note 7 would have an improved S Pen, specifically in terms of the click-to-eject mechanism that was introduced in the previous Galaxy Note 5 phablet. However, no other specific details regarding this new design were mentioned.

One more thing that the alleged leak was able to reveal is information about the long rumored iris scanner that was said to be coming to the new Galaxy Note phablet. The presence of an iris scanner would be the first of its kind in any Samsung device to date, if these rumors prove to be true.

According to the report, the iris scanner would indeed be coming to the device. Aside from its expected function one that enables users to lock and unlock their device using iris recognition the new scanner will also reportedly allow users to unlock and lock applications, files, photos and other media files as well.

Lastly, the chipset that the flagship phablet would run on was once again claimed to be the overclocked Snapdragon 823 chipset.
