This year, the “Star Wars” franchise will have its very first spin-off movie, “Rogue One,” slated to come out in December. The movie has been tightly under wraps just like “Star Wars: Episode VIII The Force Awakens.”
As of now, the only thing confirmed by Disney and LucasFilms Ltd. is the premise of the story which will be set between “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith ” and “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope.” It will follow a group of rebel fighters trying to steal the plans for the Death Star which ultimately ended in the hands of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). With the release of “Rogue One,” it will effectively tie in the prequels and sequels as it aims to explain how it was during Darth Vader’s darkest and most powerful years. Given this, various rumors persist that Darth Vader will eventually appear in the movie.
The Week reported, however, that instead of a fleeting role for Vader, he will instead play a significant role in the movie. Furthermore, Den of Geek added that on top of the the said character, Grand Moff Tarkin as well as Bounty Hunter Bobba Fett will also make their own appearances. More so, Fett’s role is purportedly going to be a huge one given that during the recent “Star Wars” lego conference, his spacecraft, Slave One, was seen in the publicity materials for the film.
Meanwhile, Melty resurrected speculations that Jedis will also be making an appearance in the movie. Although most of the Jedis have already been wiped out in the premise on the film, the existence of Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda may be good plot points to reveal that there may be a couple of others who were able to hide and stay safe. The website pointed out that in “Rogue One’s” IMDb page, actor Emerson Nwolie is slated to play a “Religious Warrior” which can also be presumed as a Jedi.
“Rogue One” hits theaters theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
