The action-adventure video game “Rise of the Tomb Raider” will be getting its final DLC next week.
Titled “Cold Darkness Awakened,” the third DLC for the title is expected to have players explore the Cold War in Siberia.
In the preview of the upcoming addition, the sneak peek starts off in a slower pace as it highlights the mystery ahead of Lara’s adventure. It shows some scenes of the bitter, cold, and dangerous adventures that the protagonist takes “to search for something greater.”
After declaring that “the divine source is real” and that they have to get it first, the clip takes on a faster stride to highlight the real threats in the mission. The video shows snippets of trekking the dangerous icy paths, several explosions, navigating through an eerie tomb, and even battling wild creatures. The complete trailer also showed a preview of the previous DLC, before teasing with the words “Discover the Legend Within.”
“Cold Darkness Awakened” adds a new quest and new combat mode, where the protagonist has to face the Trinity soldiers who are afflicted with a disease and turned into zombie-like killers. It is an addition to the main expansion of the game, called the “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch,” launched earlier this year.
Players who are season pass holders will get the content for free. On the other hand, those who prefer to purchase the DLC individually may get it for $9.99 on Steam, Xbox Marketplace, or the Windows Store. “Cold Darkness Awakened” will be available starting Mar. 29.
“Rise of the Tomb Raider” was released late last year and is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles. The title has been generally well-received by players, critics, and the gaming industry, with rating scores averaging mostly a nine out of 10.
