With less than a week before its return, “Rick and Morty” continue to make noise. This adds to the fans’ excitement and anticipation.

Series co-creator Justin Roiland finally received his dose of the famous Szechuan Sauce from McDonald’s. According to ScreenRant, Roiland shared that the fast food giant promised to give him a jug of the sauce. The sauce, which was featured in the show’s April Fool’s Day episode, originally came with the McNuggets, but it was eventually discontinued.

In the said episode, Rick confessed that his motivation and passion in life is finding the McNugget sauce. “Nine more seasons until I get that dipping Szechuan sauce, or 97 more years, Morty!,” said Rick, with his mouth all foaming in excitement.

With the character’s revelation, fans of the show came up with a Change.org petition, titled “Bring Back the Mulan Szechuan Sauce.” In addition, USA Today even reported that fans have started watching online tutorials on making the sauce. They also took to Twitter, asking McDonald’s to return the sauce to their regular menu.

Interestingly, McDonald’s spokesperson Terri Hickey responded with a statement that gave fans a reason to hope. “We never say never, because when our customers speak, we listen,” said Hickey. “And to paraphrase some of our most enthusiastic fans, our sauce is so good that it would be worth waiting 9 seasons or 97 years for,” he added.

Furthermore, they also responded to the show’s tweet, saying “@RickandMorty McNugga Lubba Dub Dub.”

Last week, Roiland and co-creator Dan Harmon confirmed in a Q&A session with IndieWire that season 3 will feature some guest stars. Some of the names they dropped include Susan Sarandon, Christian Slater, Joel McHale, and Danny Trejo. Also mentioned were Gillian Jacobs, Thomas Middleditch, and Peter Serafinowicz.

Additionally, they also confirmed that Keith David will reprise his character as president of the United States. The possibility of a crossover episode was also raised. However, the two said it should be a gag episode featuring characters from various TV universes.

“Rick and Morty” season 3 airs this Sunday, July 30, at 11:30 p.m. EDT on Adult Swim.
