Capcom recently dropped two more teasers for the upcoming game, “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard,” which pretty much gives fans hope that the company is taking the title back to its old survival horror roots.
One of the two sneak peeks offers a first look at a different villain from the Baker family that has spearheaded previous teasers. The trailer dubbed as “Shadow,” which is aptly titled by the way given the dark aesthetics of the video, reveals a monster, thanks to the enhanced render from IGN.
The second trailer and presumably the last one from the marketing push for “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” features Aunt Rhody who could be another member of the mysterious Baker family. It starts with an eerie humming sound until the player bumps into the aforementioned old lady. Aside from her appearance, the clip also seems to be hinting that another demo will arrive sometime in early December.
Meanwhile, in a Q&A session during Capcom’s recent financial results briefing, the company was asked about their hopes regarding “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” and the “Resident Evil” franchise as a whole. Obviously, company executives are hoping to score big with the upcoming survival horror video game in order to bring back first-generation players who have lost their way throughout the years.
“We are expecting 4 million unit sales worldwide in this fiscal year. Also, we expect to recognize sales of the game as a catalog title in the next fiscal year; however, revenue for catalog titles tends to grow in relation with the timing of movie releases and new titles in a series. What is more, the sales lifecycles for titles has grown due to digital distribution, so we expect this game to become a foundation title, producing revenue not limited to the next two fiscal years but into the long term as well,” Capcom shared.
“Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” is scheduled to arrive worldwide on Jan. 24, 2017, except for Japan. The East Asian country will have to wait a couple of days before they can get their hands on the title on Jan. 26. The game will be available on major platforms including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
