'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors: Sequel or remastered version in development?

Fans of Rockstar’s 2010 open world western action adventure game “Red Dead Redemption” might be in for some surprises, as rumors suggest that they may soon be able to return to the old western American Frontier with a pair of new games allegedly in the works.

The rumors came after Reddit user Gaudynights shared a post on the Rockstar Games subsection, alleging the possibility that Rockstar Games might be planning for a pair of new Red Dead Redemption” games in the future based on the code from the game’s listing on the official Rockstar Games website.

According to the brief summary of Gaudynights’s post, “Rockstar’s games list page linked to two 404ed game pages that match the number format to suggest 2 RDR titles. The page got updated so it’s not there anymore, but I got one screenshot.” Gaudynights shared the screenshot on Imgur, featuring a list of Rockstar Games’ released titles that allegedly prove the existence of two future “Red Dead Redemption” titles.

Gaudynights explained how he got that conclusion, saying that he got interested in checking out Rockstar Games’ website after seeing a Reddit thread asking if the company’s website was dead because people couldn’t connect to it.

The company’s website promptly returned, which made Gaudynights believe that it was briefly taken down and re-deployed with some new updates. Gaudynights guessed the possibility that the update may have included a listing of Rockstar Games’ future titles as it was common practice to code them into the website so developers will only remove a couple of code lines come the announcement date.

Gaudynights then checked the page’s code and got a listing of Rockstar Games’ titles as shown in the screenshot. He then noticed an error prompt on the Developer Tool, which he clicked only to meet a couple of 404 errors as shown in another screenshot.

The details of the errors indicated the non-existence of pages relating to games supposedly listed as number 112 and 11 in the listing. Those numbers suggest a relation to the “Red Dead” series as “Red Dead Redemption” and the expansion “Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare” were both numbered 1 and 111, respectively.

All the evidence has since been erased from Rockstar Games’ website, suggesting that the company might have caught on and covered their tracks. At the very least, with this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) right around the corner, Rockstar Games might make a formal announcement soon.
